Visit Boise

Visiting Boise?? Things we love to do!!

Outdoors -

Hiking – There are plenty of hiking trails in or near Boise. We sell Hiking Idaho Books by Local Idaho Author Scott Marchant. The Greater Boise Hikes is a great local resource.

Biking – There are plenty of mountain biking trails in the Boise area or if you prefer road biking the Boise Greenbelt is easily accessible. Local bike shops also offer bike rentals if you do not have a bike with you.

Running – Plenty of trails to run in the Boise area. My favorite is Council Springs located in East Boise. The Boise Greenbelt is also a nice run along the Boise River.

Fishing – Check out the Idaho Fish and Game website for local fishing spots. Nearby Boise fishing hotspots are the Boise River, Lucky Peak, and nearby ponds such as Parkcenter Pond.

Arts –

Boise Art Museum - If you visit Boise during the month of September, check out the Boise Art Museum Art in the Park. Iron Pine Brand will have a booth for 2018 Art in the Park. Come check us out! We will be at booth 270.

Freak Alley Gallery – A great colorful public art space perfect for photo taking!!

Shakespeare Festival – A great outdoor performing art theatre in Boise Idaho! You may want to purchase tickets in advance as these shows sell out fast.

Keep your Tater Tot Busy –

Boise Zoo – A wide array of animal exhibits including paddle boat rides, small kids farm, and butterfly exhibit in the summer.

MK Nature Center – A nature park located in Boise. Check out the awesome underwater fish viewing area near walking paths that connect to the Boise Greenbelt and Boise River.

History and Culture –

Old Idaho State Penitentiary – This used to be a functional prison from 1872 – 1973. It is a good place to get some Idaho history. If you visit in October there are some fun Halloween events.

Basque Museum and Cultural Center (Basque Block) - Museum highlights Basque heritage and cultural exhibits in Boise, Idaho.

Idaho Botanical Garden – A beautiful location for outdoor photos. The history behind the Botanical Garden is that it used to serve as the Old Idaho State Penitentiary’s farm and nursery.

Other fun places to take in History – Some may require driving. Map Rock, Oregon Trail, Idaho City, Silver City, much more. Check out the Visit Idaho website for more fun stuff to do in Boise and Idahome!!
